![]() Man I love looking at old Jeep heritage. I notice the "Jeep-and-a-Half" add uses the phrase, "sport utility vehicle." When was that phrase coined? Are we looking at it right here?
When I was a kid in the early '80s, my dad had Cherokee after Cherokee, with a Scout mixed in. He'd by them when they were 8 or 9 years old with 100k+ miles, drive them for a year or two, then grab another one. I remember referring to it simply as "the Jeep," and I remember knowing it was technically a station wagon. Then I remember around the era of the Bronco II hearing the phrase "sport utility vehicle." I'm really surprised to read that phrase in this old ad. |
