MiscellaneousNYTimes: 2007 A Year To Forget For Chrysler

Leave it to The New York Times to sum up 2007 for Chrysler in just a few paragraphs:

Most perplexing was how a company famed for bold, breakthrough styling — think Dodge Viper — could have lost its mojo so quickly. Chrysler’s year will be remembered for a nearly unbroken string of misfires, including the Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Compass and Chrysler Aspen. Many models fell short both outside and in. If there had been an industry award for worst interiors, Chrysler would have grabbed it with all 10 thumbs, after filling its new models with enough chintzy, ill-fitting plastic to make old Daewoos look good.

Relax bk, I'll take this one.

The spelling plagurism is shown in the Urban Dictionary, so it's acceptable here. We don't grade on spelling, just content.

Ironically, some NYT writers were fired (oh, I mean "resigned", yeah right!) for plajurizm a few years ago! It seems like their credibility has never recovered. LINK TO: New York Times Scandal.

As to the 1.1 million Liberal lemmings that read the New York Times for a very unbalanced view of the world, the webmaster, Mike, can confirm that we don't argue politics in these threads.

Keep it Jeep.

Astoundingly sound arguments made. I especially liked the use of emoticons for emphasis.

The incongruity (feel free to look that up in your urban dictionary, I’ll wait) that I find in your response is that I am the only one not making political comments. I am neither liberal nor lemming. I am completely aware of the NYTs reputation and choose not to read it generally. My points is that you should not close your mind completely and disallow good points from a source that you generally disagree with. Jeep did use cheap plastic in the Wrangler (mine is scratched to hell from regular use) and the future of Jeep is uncertain under Cerberus. I was glad to see a post referencing what many already know. The more people who know about it the more quickly quality improves and hopefully the better Jeep's chances are in the future.

Since I am new to this post and was not aware of the brain trust I was dealing with when commenting, I think I’ll let you spew out your dittohead drivel and spend my time with jeepers open to other opinions. Flame on…no one will be listening.

Since no one is listening, I won't expect a response to this. It's not flame posts, just the facts.

I'll also watch my "emoticons". (I'll give you a pass on that one as a mere typo.) Or maybe it's one of those geek words...

And I'll be sure to keep an eye on improvements to the JEEP "marquee" (sic). Since marquee is a word that means something much different than a "marque", I'll conclude that you are, indeed, "not aware of the brain trust [you are] dealing with..."

You started your FIRST post to this website by denigrating a long-standing member for a simple misspelling, and your SECOND post by calling us a brain trust, while you yourself have gross errors in diction... as do we all.

Get an attitude adjustment, or GOODBYE, we hope.

Thanks MarkH. Very well said. Let's hope we can all get past petty misspellings.

I think these people are called "dive bombers". They drop in to stir (inflame) the pot & then giggle as we react... No matter.

El_Gato,

Please keep your comments related, at a minimum, to the automotive industry. Your inaccuracy in personal flames is both amusing and insulting.

We all have different opinions, and yours is welcome as long as personal attacks aren't included.

Point to one "political" comment in my original post. You can't because there aren't any.

I thought I just might say that the cheap plastic they use would work really well to lay a good coat of rhinoguard all over. I'm already getting ready to lay some down on the interior of my TJ. Anyone else here with me on this?

Well it appears that about 1.1 million people who can spell the word plagiarism give a rat’s behind what the NYT writes. I didn’t see anything in the article that I disagreed with – those plastic interiors were cheap this year (unfortunately that included the Wrangler). I have to say that I am just as weary as the NYT as to the intentions of Cerberus. At least the Wrangler was a huge hit and makes the Jeep marquee marketable if the slash and burn begins. Thanks for the post – I enjoyed the read.

Who gives a rat's behind what the NYT thinks. It's the same paper that has had serious plagurism issues by its reporters in the past. They rank right up there with Consumer Reports when it comes to rating vehicles.
