 Jeep Scrambler Spy Shots Hit the Web!

Photos of the 2005 Jeep Scrambler hit the web on TheCarConnection.com
TheCarConnection.com is claiming the first "spy" shots of the 2005 Jeep Scrambler - the shots were actually taken at a recent NADA conference - the Scrambler in the photo is actually just a "engineering concept" - but should give a pretty good indication of the final product that we'll see next summer. Here's a snippet from the article: This engineering concept has a 19-inch stretched wheelbase, but the actual production model will be stretched far less – only 10 inches as stated on Jeep’s very own display, with a 5-inch overhang stretch. But sources are now telling us that there may be both long- and short-wheelbase versions. The bed itself will measure in at approximately four feet, and the Scrambler will be powered by a four-cylinder engine, with an in-line six option. The Scrambler concept shown here has a removable top, but others have spied a soft-top version as well. The Toledo, Ohio-built Scrambler will be produced in limited numbers of about 20,000 units per year. Click here to see the photos and read the rest of the article.

I read what people said about the I6 being bullet-proof, which is why it should always be an optional engine in a TJ type vehicle. But but that 5.7 HEMI in a Wrangler Unlimited... I just can't believ DC isn't tripping over themselves to take advantage of the potential.

They would have to redesign the whole front end, which costs sh*tloads of $$$. while some V8 power would be nice, its not waht you need in a TJ. Its not like it weighs as much as a hummer or somthing.

It's a good place to start. Let's hope they wise up on a four foot bed...it needs to be 60" minimum. That would allow for two old style bench seats and seating for six. A full hard top would be nice. Most of us can't afford an 112" AEV.

I always hoped Jeep would bring back the Scrambler with the TJ's coil suspension, 4.0 motor, and other updated goodies, but this looks like a streched turd with no rollbar. I'm sure the aftermarket can help things but I'm disappointed in this version to say the least. I'd rather see something like AEV's Brute or the Dakar come off the line. I don't know who Jeep surveyed before building this, but it definitely wasn't me or anyone else that has visited this page.

The photos arent bad what did you expect Jeep is not the qutetest vehicle in the world however it is the most recognized, and I admire DC for not messing with a legend. This truck will have so many applications I cant even imagine, Airforce ramp trucks, postal bulk trucks, curior businesses. So I leave this Idea to DC engineering, offer a full roof option removable or folddown seat, hey make the rear seat optional, add four door strech version later. And lets give it the name of Willis. Buy the way Nice job I think the truck looks GREAT!

Anyway this new Scrambler is butt ugly, and if you noticed, they say they don't plan on offering the longer wheelbase for the production model, which means the bed will be even smaller, and there will be no chance for a 4 door version.
On another side note, I'm in RI, I can't believe what happened last night.
