CommanderCommander Sales Off to a Brisk Start
Posted by mike on 2005/9/23 2:26:49 (1020) reads

Jeep Commander orders appear to be off to a brisk start based on comments from Jeff Bell, VP of the Jeep division of DaimlerChrysler. He says that there are 30,000 orders for Commanders so far, with 3,800 Commanders having been shipped so far.

He also mentioned that you can expect to see Commander television ads start ramping up in the coming month or so - as soon as there are somewhere around 6,000-8,000 Commanders on dealer lots.

 Commander
Finally saw a Commander on the road last night. Looks much bigger in person than it does on paper. Not that Commander is small, but I think the box-like styling make it look bigger than it actually is.

The 300 sales were the same at first for about a month, when advertising and word of mouth kick in they will be red hot!!!! There is a $1500 rebate the the commander as far as fuel goes , its excellent for the size of vehicle. I would not worry about any "BUGS" for the first year.....its basically a grand cherokee underneeth and its been out for a year!!!!!

Re: Commander Sales Off to a Brisk Start
I wonder how many Commanders have actually been sold to the public. These 30,000 Commanders are mostly to dealers. Our local dealer has placed an initial order of 19 units. They have 7 right now and none have sold. I am sure when the marketing fires up they will start selling some but with the gas prices and all the rebates that have been offered on 2005's I think people are going to wait awhile. I want to buy one but I am going to be patient and let the inventory build up and see what kind of rebates and offers come around in a few months.
I think they will do well but I think they will start slow.

I hope the Commander continues to sell well so that:

1.) Jeep can get any first year bugs worked out before I buy mine.

2.) I can continue to laugh at the fools who think the SUV is dead.

3.) sales will continue to fund further enhancements in Jeep off-road capabilities and more niche vehicles like the Wrangler.
