We just received an email from a Jeep dealer that we know and he tells us that orders are now open for Jeep Grand Cherokees with the 3.0L diesel engine.
The engine is only available right now on the Overland and Limited models. The cost to upgrade to the engine is (dealer invoice/MSRP):
Limited: $3,256/$3,700
Overland: $1,769/$2,010
Any other dealers out there care to confirm this? Any additional details?

"The 3.0L CRD delivers an EPA rated 19 city/23 highway mpg in the WK. " " it stands, Jeep claims you can get at least 425 miles out of a full 21.1-gallon tank of fuel. " Considering my 07 GC 4.7 v8 averages 16 mpg, this is a big step up. |

![]() I LOVE IT!!!
It is great that Jeep has gotten back into the oil burner market. I suspect that since this is in a better-looking package than the Liberty it will sell better (even though the Liberty beat sales forecast). If this were a 4cyl in the Wrangler or Gladiator I would be at the dealership tomorrow. Thanks Jeep! |

![]() I cant wait to get some real world MPG results. Just saw a review of the bluetec in the Mercedes and it got 27/36 with an average of 32 miles per gallon. I know its a lighter, much more aerodynamic shape than the GC but still....
Heres to hope that the engine will some day be offered as a crate engine from DC and advance adapters make a conversion kit for older 96-2006 Wranglers. |
