(NOTE-about me: I just turned 54 and always drove top-of-the-line Buick and Mazda luxury sedans.) I bought my 2003 Liberty Sport 4 months ago. I like the feel of this car and that the car was a good buy. I don't know much about the mechanics of the car and have alot to learn about the 2-wheel drive that can convert into a 4-wheel drive and other drives I don't know much about. It was important to me that this car could go anywhere, and by-gosh, it sure can!! I had a great time driving on the beach sands. I experienced a freedom, I had not felt in many years. It was so much fun, I laughed the whole time. I was reborn as a "rough-and-tumble" kid!!! I am definitely a jeep-kind-of-gal. It brought out the real me and I am thrilled with this car.

Consumer Reports are idiots. Unless you have a Toyota product, you usually won't be near the top. But what stands out was their expert reporter on the Today Show. After showing some of their top picks, the reporter said her favorite was the blue Saturn. However, it was Subaru WRX. I wonder if that will make their last page of errors.

I was in the market to buy a new vehicle and I wanted an SUV. I had looked at pretty much all of them and found the Jeep Liberty and from the moment I saw it ,I loved it. I test drove it and loved it so I bought it that day. I have had it for 3 months and have not found anything I don't like about it. It is a very smooth riding vehicle and it is very comfortable riding in it, even people I know that have ridden in mine are impressed with the smoothness and power that it has and at how comfortable it is. I t also has a lot of safety features that are very good and they even thought about chldren when they designed it with the child restraint hook behind the seats.
anyways I love my Jeep Liberty and I would not want to own something else. I love every feature about it. so I don't know what the gripe is with the person that wrote this ad. It is only their opinion NOT a fact!

( This is the same as the previous response. ) Hint Hint do not abreviate 'Consumer Reports' Apprently that abbreviation stands for 'Carriage Return' as well.

Consumer Report's never has much good to say about Jeep vehicles.
Consumer Report's most common comment about Jeeps are the lack of a smooth ride.
But what Consumer Report's fails to realize is that it is the Liberty's less than smooth ride ( especially what even the current Wrangler owners experience ) that gives the Liberty it's unmatched stock off road prowness over other small SUV's.
The Liberty was proven on the Rubicon trail. I wouldn't drive a RAV4 through a pile of wet leaves! Consumer Report's should take some of those other competing tin cans on the Rubicon trail and rate that.

There are SUV's and there are Jeeps. Jeeps have been around long before the phrase SUV. The SUV term was created when the Jeep was already 50 years old and the Cherokee had been around for 5 years already. SUV came to Jeep not the other way around. SUV went on to define the meaning of a big gas guzzling paved road monster trimmed in leather. There are number of things the smaller nimbler Jeep can do that even the Hummer couldn't do. But I digress.

When Consumer Report's rates a Jeep, it lowers it to the standards of todays butt cushioning SUV's. I understand that Chrysler has to marketing their vehicles so they at least break even. ( I hope Chrysler at least leaves the Wrangler - or whatever model replaces it next - in it's current state of being the best stock off road vehicle )

So to my fellow Jeep owners I would say, do not be too disgruntled about Consumer Report comparing your beloved Jeep to whatever new SUV comes out that year. The Jeep is in a class all it's own.
You bought a vehicle with a long history and a fine heritage. Jeep has been around almost a decade longer than even that British made thing - LandRover?
Be proud. Remember to wave at a passing Jeep driver. No other vehicle owners share this comradere.
And if you must listen to something Consumer Report's says about your Jeep at least remember what they said about the Wrangler two years ago:
"The Wrangler is the last vehicle you would want to take on the road and the first vehicle you would want to take off the road"
Whether they meant to or not, this solidified the desire for my Wrangler.
