Grieger's Chrysler/Jeep in Valparaiso, IN was supposed to have one in stock, according to Jeep.com. However, when I went to look on Sunday, I didn't see one on the lot, or in the showroom, but the dealership was closed.

This may not be real new but it is the first time I saw it. The Compass looks pretty "Sand Rated" to me. Looks like fun!

I Saw the Compass yesterday at Halterman's Jeep in East Stroudsburg, Pa. My initial reactions reminded me of the launch of the Liberty, where my stomach muscles gringe at the loss of solid axles.

There are two Compass's on eBay ... a white sport and a white limited ... with lots of pictures. Personally, I hate white on any car. Still waiting to see any other color ...

They have base model in steel blue at a Central Illinois dealer. Was in the Rockford il area this last week and saw a whte one on a dealers lot in the same town where they make them.

I seen one Compass on the back end of a transport full of Calibers here in Indianapolis last week. But I see the closest dealer to me here is showing 6 in stock right now.

I test drove a Jeep Compass today.

I thought it rode great, it had great acceleration, smooth CV transmission, nice interior. I'd buy one if I was looking for a car, I'd even consider one for the wife..We're holding out for a Patriot for her and a 4 dr. Wrangler for me.

Based on the fact that the Patriot is essentially the same car from the seats down, I think the Patriot will be best in class against small SUV's such as the RAV4, CRV, Hyundai and Kia, etc, especially with the CVT2L low range transfer case.

I would still like to see a bare-bones Willy's2-derived small SUV built on the Compass/Patriot platform with the 172HP engine mated to the CVT2L transmission, minimum show, maximum off-road go, Wrangler ground clearance, priced in the Scion Xb range....

The Compasses on the lots are the first production models for the highest selling Jeep Dealers...They are fully loaded and are meant to be used for test drives until the regular mdels make it to the lots...You cant buy one unless you offer above list-price.

Look for the JK around late August, early September...

Look for the JK CRD in the US around Dec 06 as an 07 model...Using the 2.8 CRD with Bluetec exhaust after-treatment, and eventually upgrading to the 3.0 CRD when the VMI contract is fulfiulled.
