Jeep Brand Launches an Online Edutainment Game

(from a DaimlerChrysler press release)

The Jeep® brand recently launched the “Go 4x4 Trail Rated Challenge,” a new online "edutainment" game that teaches consumers about on-road and off-road Jeep vehicle safety features and safe driving tips. Jeep developed this Internet destination with Organic, Inc., Chrysler Group's interactive agency of record.

This online experience is unique for the automotive industry. The Go 4x4 Challenge presents a variety of driving scenarios, within a gaming format, to teach Jeep vehicle owners and prospects about how to maneuver safely through challenging on-road and off-road conditions such as deep water, snow, and sand.

“The Jeep brand has been educating consumers about Jeep vehicle capabilities in fun and engaging ways at events for more than 60 years,” said Jeff Bell, Vice President, Jeep.

To ensure that the safety features were portrayed accurately, Organic Detroit and Organic New York worked closely with Jeep Marketing, Product Planning, Engineering, Legal, and Product Safety to develop the site. Keen attention was paid to the way the vehicles were rendered and how realistically they interacted within each driving scenario.

"Once the idea of incorporating Jeep vehicle safety instruction into an on-line gaming format, we all knew that we hit on something important," said Chuck Russo, Vice President and Managing Director of Organic Detroit. "We believe that truly successful online experiences engage both the minds and the hearts of users and this highly animated solution is already producing phenomenal results."

He also said the new grand is IFS in the front AND THE REAR!! He and I were both wondering how much it will be able to tow with a set up like that... Use to be an old saying he said he remeberd hearing... It ain't a jeep if it doesn't have a solid axle.. He said it will take a little getting use to.. on the looks.

Pretty cool but several times they tell you to put it in 4-lo while still moving. Don't know about you but my TJ makes all kinds of nasty gear grinding noise unless you fully stop and put the transmission in neutral before going to 4-lo. The owners manual even states this, not very thought through!

how fascinating. if you keep it in low 4wd, you make it through
the obstacles! irritatingly long, excessive words flying around
makes for a nail-biter game toO!! and the strange mail/
postcard background behind the videos is a wonderful choice!
um, a game is one where you can control the vehicle once you
learned how to do something correctly, not just sit idly by while
a completely fake 3d rendering video plays with NO engine or
ambient noise. BORING it's funny that there's more control over
the music in this "game" than the actual vehicle!!!!!

How is this news? It's been on the Jeep site for weeks now, possibly months... I can't remember because it has been so long since I saw (and played) it.

But for a "news" site, i'd expect more up to date content.
