I can attest to the fact that Jeeps , at leat
Wranglers, hold their value very well. I live in
Northern Indiana, and wanted to buy a used
Wrangler. It is difficult to find much "useable"
for under $11,000. For $9,000 you can
typically find a rough 94 YJ Wrangler with
80,000 to 100,000 miles on it. That seems
steep to me. Anything for less than $5,000 is
a rusted out CJ.

pleased with it.

I was impressed by the showing made by Jeep. But then, when you start to wonder, why, it gets scarry. As much as we love our Jeeps, they are NOT known for their fit and finish, plush ride, quiet engine, lack of mechanical problems, great paint, aerodynamic styling etc. My XJ is just a box on a box. But thye are world renown for their offroad capability, so when people want a 4x4 they are willing to pay top dollar to get the most capable make. Now that DC no longer mandates that new Jeep models be "Rubicon Ready", the standard has dropped and Jeeps will be just another 4x4 in a crowded market. New ("Soft Road"-"Rescue Ready") Jeep models will have no traits to make them stand above the crowd. The new Saturn 4x4 will suffer the same fate. It's been out a year and I've seen only one here in So Cal. I've not seen many KJ's for that matter, except at dealers where they are stacked up like cordwood. Long live real Jeeps! My only hope is that they make a stretched TJ with the Rubicon package and offer the Turbo Diesel so I can get decent fuel mileage and good low RPM torque.
