In looking at the articles from Car Connection regarding the Detroit Auto show, there is a statement from Joe Eberhardt (Chrysler Group's executive vice president of global sales and marketing):
There was never an intention to build both the Jeep Compass and Patriot, it was an either/or exercise.
Of course, there is the comment....
The alternative was we could build both of them.
... sort of hints they might build it.
Now the article does not state they are not going to build the Patriot, but they also don't state they will. There has been some speculation that the Patriot might not get built after all. We'll have to wait and see...

![]() "I also think that the Patriot still being off-road capable made the idea of the Compass a lot easier to swallow for many Jeep faithful."
Exactly! I was willing to forgive the too-car-like Compass if the Patriot was also produced. While it may have a fully indepenent suspension, the Patriot at least looks the part of a Jeep and was supposed to have a more robust 4wd system (I'm assuming a low-range t'case). |

![]() I never understood where the Patriot fit in Jeep's thinking. It seems too close to the Liberty in concept and design. With Dodge getting a Liberty clone in the Nitro it is hard to believe that the Patriot will replace these two models.
Perhaps the Patriot will see the light of day if there is still plant capacity left after the initial surge from the Caliber / Compass run. Time will tell. skramblewishes |

![]() Perhaps it will be introduced (along with the 4-door Wrangler) at the New York Auto Show in April.
Wikipedia seems to think so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_International_Auto_Show |

![]() i don't get this. chrysler was supposed to release arround 10 vehivles this year.
1.compass 2.caliber 3.aspen 4.wrangler 5.4 door wrangler ? there are still more vehicles to be released. producing the Patriot would make sence with the 2 product line theme one round and one square. one targeted more to women and one to men. the patriot would balence the compass out. |
