Jeep sales continue to be strong, rising 14 percent compared to September, 2001

Chrysler Group reported U.S. sales of 165,397 units in September 2002, an 18 percent increase compared to September 2001, when 152,165 units were sold. For the quarter, Chrysler Group reported U.S. sales of 561,854 units, up 12 percent compared to the third quarter of last year.

All percentages are calculated on a day-rate basis, with 23 selling days in September 2002, versus 25 days in September 2001.

"The September improvement of 18 percent can be attributed to the product strengths of our Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge brands, our seven-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty, competitive incentives and our Five Star dealer organization," said Gary Dilts, Senior Vice President - Sales.

Jeep brand had another positive sales month with 36,643 units sold, up 14 percent compared to last year. "Jeep Liberty's sales performance is nearly as good as its off-road performance," added Dilts. Jeep Liberty models reported sales of 15,783 units, up 37 percent compared to September 2001.
