Grand CherokeeSpring 2008 Issue of JPFreek Magazine Released
Posted by mike on 2008/3/19 9:57:27 (1961) reads

The latest issue of the the online JPFreek magazine was just released. There is a pretty extensive review of the 08 Grand Cherokee CRD:

While it is definitely a far more luxurious vehicle than our 2005 Wrangler Rubicon, the assortment of amenities and most imporantly, the vehicle's capability and perfomrance, make it worthy of the Jeep name. Now if we can only convince Chrysler to add more off-highway upgrade options to this model and make the awesome 3.0L CRD Turbo engine available in the JK Wrangler, the Jeep world would certainly take notice and the stars would align.

The issue also has articles about an Arctic circle trip with a Wrangler, the Sedona Jeep School, and gear reviews.

This issue also takes more advantage of the video capabilities of the online magazine, usually to a very cool effect.

Does anyone else notice that they continually complained of how the front end bottoms out? Is it not true that you can remove the lower panel on these for off-roading? Just seems odd to me that they wouldn't do that.

I couldn't get the link to work either; it's broken.

EDIT: Found this over on Wkjeeps.com: ...Refreshed Exterior and Interior...
...Fog lamps also have also been lowered for enhanced performance. Off-road enthusiasts will be pleased with the new two-piece front fascia, allowing for the entire lower piece to be removed before hitting the off-road trails. ...

This is located on this pagehere.

Also, thanks for the solid review.

Yeah, the biggest fault we found with the vehicle is it's low ground clearance. Regarding the front bumper removal, we weren't aware that the bumper is "removable" so if it truly is, that's definitely something we'll have to note in our next issue. A number of our peers have noted that ground clearance is an issue though. For a vehicle labelled as "Trail Rated," this is an area we urge Chrysler to look at.

Thanks for the compliments on the mag. We're pretty excited for 2008 and we've got some cool stuff coming out later this year so be on the lookout. ;)

Thanks for the link correction, Mike.
