Should the rumored sale of Chrysler Group to General Motors actually happen (I still can't believe all this is even happening), auto analysts have been mapping out a potential future for the various Chrysler Brands.
Business Week has a nice article about what they feel are GM's plans for Chrysler:
GM executives have also war-gamed specific strategies for cutting costs and streamlining operations if they do acquire Chrysler. They have picked through various product lines to determine whether two or more can be built on the same platform to trim costs and simplify purchasing. Possibilities include building the next-generation Dodge Ram pickup with the same platform as the Chevrolet Silverado and using the Jeep Wrangler platform for the Hummer H4 concept car from GM. GM executives also see an opportunity to improve Chrysler's profitability by buying parts from around the globe.
Yikes! Using Wrangler parts on a Hummer! The horror!
Check out the entire article.

![]() "Myhotwheels" - I'm wondering what point you're trying to make with all the HAHAHAs. Do you think that this is all something which is not going to happen (and is, therefore, a joke) or that you somehow find the idea of GM buying Chrysler to be humorous or do you, perhaps, suffer from some nervous afflication?

![]() This is total BS....Platform sharing is a reality,BUT hopefully they are smarter not to let GM have the wrangler platform.

![]() As much as many people speak well of GM, I still have nightmares... I hope there's some way this doesn't happen... Please, oh please, oh please!

![]() I'm kinda terrified, kinda not.
I really don't mind the concept of Hummer and Jeep "mating." Afterall, Hummer was spun off from Jeep in the first place. It's the thought of GM having too much input into Jeep. Although they've done a heck of a job of marketing Hummer as an offroad vehicle... even if it isn't. I wonder if they'll actually take Jeep back to its roots and respect the legend. |

![]() If GM got Dodge, they should leverage their design and engineering to put a solid axle back under the front of the GM 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks.
I have to say, the idea of an Allison-backed Cummins sounds pretty nice... but not if it's got IFS. I still just don't see any of this (DCX spinning off the Chryco brands) actually happening though. |

![]() Better GM than Renault or Hyundai - that's for sure - but still a nauseating thought.

![]() I wonder how much the Jeep brand and assets alone are valued at?
Probably outside the range of Jeep fans buying the brand and reforming Willys Overland motors. ![]() To me this article makes it seem that GM would kill off the Jeep brand and use its technology to further the Hummer brand. ![]() |

![]() When I was whining about a better engine for the JK, this is NOT the plan I had in mind!
![]() Though, GM does have a 3.6 L V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing that delivers 275 hp and 251 lb.-ft. of torque! ![]() |
