The 2004 Willys Edition Wrangler has been sighted on dealer lots.
We've had a couple of reader reports of readers sighting the 2004 Wrangler - Willys Edition. The www.Jeep.com site makes no mention of the Willys Edition, but several local dealerships are listing the Willys edition on their Web sites under the nameplate "Jeep Willys X". Here's some of the details from the window sticker: JEEP WRANGLER X Exterior Color: Moss Green Pearl Coat Interior Color: Dark Slate Gray Interior: Seats - Camouflage Premium Cloth Engine: Engine - 4.0L Power Tech I-6 Transmission: Transmission-4-Spd. Automatic, 42RLE Willys Edition Group - $1,430 Seats - Camouflage Premium Cloth Badge - Willys Edition Fog Lamps Sill Guards - Diamond Plate, Green Wheels-15 X 7.0 Styled Steel,Painted Speakers - 7, Inc Subwoofer/Tweeters Wheel - Matching Spare Spare Tire - Full Size Windows - Deep Tint Sunscreen Tow Hooks - (2) Front, (1) Rear Another reader writes... It will be moss green with matching fenders, half doors and green top. Only available with 4.0/5 speed combo, camo interior, no carpet, no charge cd player w/7 speaker sub woofer sound system. The jeep will feature SE wheels painted green/black, Rubicon rockrails painted green. As far as drivetrain will have command trac, Dana 30 front/rear axles. Don't know about price, addition dealer add-ons will be a white vinyl letting kit and white star for hood. Basically this is a tribute to the first willys jeep, if one did not know better they would think that this is a real army jeep!!!!! If anyone spots any photos of this on the Web, let us know!

Re: Sightings of 2004 Wrangler Willys Edition i just bought a 2005 willy's edition and i love it. its got a 3 in BDS suspension lift, 16 in pacer stamped steel wheels, mickey thompson baja claw radials, tow package and a light bar. it looks great! from what ive read they only made about 2000 willy's editions between 2004 and 2005. it is truly an eye catcher. i am a military guy so you cant guess how many other military and retired military guys love my jeep. its a great jeep and i wouldnt trade it for anything!

Originally posted by: sugar I have had my Willy's Jeep for a few months, and I like it. I had to change the tires to 31's because the others were too small. Mine is a straight 6 standard. I have no clue about the other specs, as I'm not knowledgable about cars in general. It was a huge hit with my friends, heads turn all the time with it, and the jeep coop was impressed with it. It does need modifications (lift, lockers, tow kit) and as soon as I can find half doors for it, then I will get those. I have taken it out and done a bit of crawlin with it and although it couldnt keep up with the big boys, it certainly held its own. I love it, and look forward to when the warranty runs out and I can give it the modifications I need.

I have a camo spare tire cover, and I had to take the tire off, put the cover on, and squeeze it back into place basically because the light is so close. But it works, looks great. This may sound silly, but lately I've seen those little 'balls' that people have hanging off the back of their trucks and whatnot...I figure my jeep is so small and stock right now that when I am able to lift it after the warranty runs out, I will hang a pair of those 'balls' on the jeep...because by then he will have grown up and they would have dropped..lol...eh..just an idea :P

Some have 5spd, some have Automatic, steel wheels painted green/black center caps, camo material for seats(sits just like any other wrangler), Susp actually sits a little lower than a Rubicon parked 2ft away from it. A couple of inches lower or so. soft top(drk gray-slighty grn, it was 9pm), Complete with star on hood, stenciled ID letters on sides of hood, word 'FUEL' is stenciled on body above fuel filler cap, simply amazing.
I can't wait to get one!!!
-yeah, like that'll ever happen, cheapest one by window sticker was $24,200 give or take a little. Just Awesome! that's all i can say, awesome! But I just don't understand why it's not being proclaimed to all, i mean, you would think jeep would want everyone to know that one of the greats, has been reborn in an options package.

Originally posted by: Phil Alot of great comments here. I just purchased my first TJ and I chose the Willys. I paid 21,000 for it with 4.0/4-sp Auto/AC/Decal Package. But with rebate, trade allowance, and cash down with 0% I actually feel like I am closer to an automobile investment than ever before. I had a 97 ZJ with a few mods that I missed terribly when I traded it for a Toyota Tacoma. Well, I am back in the Jeep family now. (I missed the Jeep Owner wave) I LOVE the willys edition, though I do have some mixed feelings. Getting some 31's soon. I also will be adding an ARB/Warn combo and nerf bars. I love the matching green everywhere, Weather-resistant electronics and seats, deep tint plastic, sill guards... Would have preferred a Manual trany, but these things are getting much harder to come by. Diff locks will also be added with Dana 44 in the rear. Hopefully when these things are all done, it should be a rockin Willys.

I think people look at it as restored, not new. I had no idea so few were made. I found a sight where you can see several closeup shots of the special features (badging, interior etc) at JEEPIN.com. Does anyone know the meaning of the decal on the hood. It reads 41MB-04TJ. I think the 04TJ signifies the year (2004) and body type TJ. Is 04MB the very first model.

Yep, 31X10.5X15's worked great on the stock moss green steel rims and don't rub on the well at all. I customized my decal kit with Air Force stickers, being how I was in the Air Force for nine years, and it gets lots of looks around town and on the trail. I've done general simple add-ons, but looking to make it rock proof here soon before christmas. If anyone who owns a '04 Willy's wants to email me for upgrade ideas, please do. My only disappiontment is the power; the 4.0 liter feels a little weak for what I had anticipated. Maybe some tweaking of the intake and exhaused will add some more power,I hope. Requardless its a blast to drive.

Anyway enough about my Liberty. The Willys is sharp looking and will attract a certain type of jeeper. For a few grand more you can drive away in a Rubicon. The new Willys has inspired me to finish my 1952 Willys M38A1 -- if I find the time.

On the negative side, I just don't like the star, the military lettering theme, and the camo interior. It just looks a little cheap or tacky IMO, but thats just me.

If the Willys edition had heavier axles, a locking diff and SERVICEABLE JOINTS, I'd be a lot more interested. As I feel very sure Tomb Raider sales are showing, buyers are a lot more interested in guts than glitz. If anyone is interested in seeing what we do with our jeeps, come visit our page at: http://www.mrmoms.org/wayfarer.htm The pics are spectacular and I'm going to add video clips next.

Over all, the Willys is definitely my favorite.

Mine doesn't have the sticker package, and the dealer didn't offer it. I would probably have passed on it anyway. What it does have is full front doors and a 6 speed manual transmission. I could have saved a few bucks with the 2004, but once I drove the 6-speed I had to have it. Maybe it's because my first Jeep had a THREE speed manual, and I really missed having at least a 4-speed.
Ya'll take care, Tom

MINE CAME EQUIPED WITH A TRAC-LOCK DIFFERENTIAL ON DANA 35 IN THE REAR. FOR THE MONEY THIS IS A VERY WELL EQUIPED WRANGLER PLUS THE WILLYS BADGE. HOW CAN YOU LOSE?
