Live near Detroit? Then go check out the popular Jeep Rescue concept vehicle.

Jeep RescueThe 2004 North American International Auto Show, one of the largest auto shows in the world, is taking place this week in Detroit, Michigan. As usual, DaimlerChrysler will be showing off their latest concept vehicles. This year the Jeep brand will be showing both the Jeep Treo and much-talked-about Jeep Rescue (pictured here).

According to The Toledo Blade:

The Rescue, which looks like an oversized Wrangler with four doors, is 80 inches wide and has a 123-inch wheelbase. Features include a 325-horsepower Cummins turbo diesel engine, 37-inch tires with run-flat capability, a 4-inch suspension lift, remote-control winches, a topographical navigation system, satellite telephone, and an open-air roof system complete with removable doors and a folding windshield.

Think about it...it has the style of a wrangler, more power than the grand sissy, and is larger than the cherokee sports. Its all of the jeeps put together=the ULTIMATE jeep. I sick and tired of seeing every other producer come out with a mid-sized SUV so they can pretend they have a suv. If you build this rescue, you have all those people running to their dealers wanting to trade them in so they can get this one.

Do the math, everyone likes it. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Any thoughts of DC coming out with a production version of the rescue with an MSRP under $30k is not realistic. The only bright spot on this hummer copy is the diesel motor. Now if that were in a real Jeep....

They have too. There are way too many Hummers out there. This looks totally Jeep. Hummer only wishes they had the history Jeep has. Hummer was the one that copied Jeeps 7 slot grill.
I will be replacing my Grand Cherokee and Wrangler with one of these the day they go on sale!

Granted, I don’t think most people, myself included, will ever need some of the extras such as the cameras underneath, but please don’t simply eliminate those extras on the production vehicle to cut costs. Instead, make the satellite telephone, the remote-control winches, the canvas roof, and others optional accessories.

In addition to a working search and rescue vehicle, the Rescue is a standard bearer for Jeep. It’s not cheap, and it’s probably not practical for the average consumer, but DC must build the Rescue. The trickle down effect in terms of brand image, styling, and technology can only be a positive.

I wonder if this will comparable to a H2 or the upcoming smaller H3. I hope it is somewhat smaller than a H2 instead more the size of the current Grand Cherokee. I would feel quilty driving something as big as H2 plus that means it would be out of most people's price range. It needs to be under $30,000.

Just give me the Dakar and a TJ-8, both under 20k.

before 2006 rolls around and new safety laws are in place
