WranglerSpy Shots of 2007 Jeep Rescue (4-door Wrangler)
Posted by mike on 2005/7/25 11:22:26 (2368) reads

TheCarConnection.com has some cammo'd shots of the 2007 4-door Jeep Wrangler - that they're calling the 2007 Jeep Rescue.

From the article:

Compare our profile shots of the prototype with our shots of the concept vehicle and you will see how true to the concept the production model actually is. The shape of the fender flares are identical on both vehicles, although the front and rear bumpers appear to differ slightly. The major differences between the show car and the real thing are found in the shape of the side windows. The concept's windows each have a dog-leg kink, and the door handles are mounted in the pillars. The prototype's windows are simply squared-off as on the current Wrangler, and the door handles are of the conventional door-mounted variety.

Looks like a what?!?! Hum & Dummer (and Hummerer) get their styling cues from Jeep, not the other way around.

In terms of looks, I'd rather see the production Rescue get its style cues from the Dakar and the Patriot get the cues from the concept Rescue, but that's probably just years of longing talking. I'll take the 4-door regardless.

It resembles the H3 because the H3 resembles a Jeep. Lets not forget that Jeeps were around long before anyone had ever heard the word Hummvee. Have you seen a 50 year old Willys station wagon lately.

That is a hell-of-a front bumper! It sticks out like my YJ's bumper did. I would expect there to be some plastic, but either way, adding a winch to that would look to be easy. Actually, looking closer I wouldn't be surprised if it's got the built in winch like the concept Rescue.

If it's anything like the rescue, it's all Jeep to me (not H3).

The wrangler "rescue" will be available as a laredo and a rubicon..I hope they offer the HEMI!!!! I do know they are going to american axles and eaton electronic lockers like the powerwagon!!!!!! That top is removable, check out the 3rd brake light location. And the rubicon will have standard 33" tires and bigger wheel openings as the picture shows a laredo version.

Re-post:
It does look somewhat like the H3. However, if it stays true to the Wrangler and the Rescue concept, the doors will be removable, the windshield will fold, and the top will remove/open. The Jeep will not have a 5 cylinder gasoline engine. If Jeep does it right, they will offer a diesel.

Which would you rather drive?

RUBICON - I agree from first glance, it has the classic Jeep look. Hopefully, they will stick to that formula, plus all the goodies underneath as well. So I guess the 4 door Wrangler will be known as the Rescue and the 2 door Wrangler will be the "Wrangler"? Interested in seeing real pictures of it.

From first glance, it looks like it will keep classic Wrangler-like styling and good ground clearance.
