After reporting on a couple of Jeep recalls yesterday, we decided to do a little more web-investigating. We found two sites that all Jeep owners (and all car owners for that matter) should have bookmarked.
ALLDATA is a automotive repair information web site:
ALLDATA Corporation is the leading publisher of Electronic Automotive Repair Information. Currently over 26,000 repair facilities nationwide use ALLDATA's Diagnostic and Repair Database to fix cars faster and more accurately. Today you can have access through ALLDATA's Internet Site to crucial Safety Recall, Technical Service Bulletin, Maintenance, and Repair information for your vehicle from ALLDATA's extensive database.
One of the more interesting features of the ALLDATA web site is the ability to search for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for different automobiles. TSBs are documents that are issued by auto manufactures to help mechanics diagnose and repair problems reported by consumers.
AutoSite is a full-featured web site that also contains a searchable database of auto recalls. We found this recall issued by the NHTSA that affects all 1998 Jeeps. The problem is a "possible increase in engine idle speed or loss of power assist" of the braking system.
