Wrangler and Liberty set sales records...
Driven by exceptionally strong retail sales, the Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 172,647 units in February 2004, an increase of 1 percent compared with February 2003, when 170,614 vehicles were sold. February represents the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains at the Chrysler Group.
The Jeep(R) brand led the way with sales of 39,002 vehicles, an increase of 31 percent over February 2003, when 29,766 vehicles were sold. Jeep Liberty set a February sales record of 15,432 vehicles, up 30 percent from February 2003, beating last year's February record of 11,832 units. Jeep Wrangler also had its best February ever, posting sales of 6,960 units, an increase of 79 percent over February 2003. The previous February record for Jeep Wrangler was 6,703 units, set in 1997.
"Only in a Jeep do you get this combination of on-road refinement, off- road capability and marketplace dominance," said Gary Dilts, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President - Sales.
