MiscellaneousSurf the Web From Your Radio?

Chrysler wants to be the first car company to provide in-car internet access and an option. From The Washington Post:

The feature will be added to existing vehicles by dealers beginning this year and later be installed on the assembly line, said Frank Klegon, Chrysler's product development chief.

The technology will allow passengers to search Web pages using signals from mobile phone towers. Consumers initially would need a subscription to a wireless phone carrier to ensure uninterrupted coverage.

"We want to make the radio itself a WiFi port," Klegon said.

It seems to me that they'd have to apply the same safety features on internet access from the front seat as they currently have with DVD access - the car must be in park in order for it to operate, less we have a new generation of sandwich-eating-telephone-talking-web-surfing drivers on the road. Oh wait - maybe we already have that...

I guess I should have said good NEW vehicles. I have owned three XJ's and all were better vehicles than my NEW Commander which seems to be in the shop now every other week.

Lemon? I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee and it has been trouble free, and by far the best vehicle I have ever owned (including older wranglers).

Instead of putting Internet in cars why doesn't Chrysler start making good vehicles that get good gas mileage?

Chrysler does make vehicles with "good" fuel economy. Just read the article on the overseas modes of Chrysler's diesel fleet of vehicles.

The anti-recreationists crowd prohibits their sale in this country. Maybe you should be putting pressure on them, so Chrysler could sell a few thousand of those vehicles here in the USA.

Good Vehciles? My 1998 XJ Cherokee has over 266,000 miles on the odometer and is still ticking. My 1996 Dodge Neon had 230,000 miles on it when we finally had to retire him to the Neon Junkyard.

Currently, my wife's WJ Grand Cherokee has 110,000 miles on it. Yes, we do a lot of driving.

If I wanted a Lexus, I would buy a Lexus. I don't, I want a Jeep. It doesn't look like a Lexus and it surely doesn't ride like a Lexus (thank you very much).
