Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
The only complaint I have with my wife's '07 Unlinited Sahara, which we purchased in October of '06 from Friendly Jeep in Sterling Heights MI, is the way the front doors fit at the top and bottom at the rear of each door. The top rear corners of each front door fit too tight and the bottom rear corners of each front door don't fit flush with the body. The front doors are harder to close than the rear doors, which fit the body much better than the front doors. I know....it's not a Mercedes, but other Unlimiteds front doors fit much better. Friendly Jeep told me that NOTHING can be done about the front doors' fit.
Other than the front door fit, it's incredible! We traded her '97 Wrangler with it's pathetic 4 cylinder engine (her idea), which she bought new from the same dealer. The V6 is great, especially after I installed a K & N cold air induction kit on it! She does love the growl the V6 makes at full throttle (only when getting on the freeways!) I'm thinking of trading my '05 Jeep Renegade in for a '08 Jeep Unlimited Sahara!

Re: Wrangler Unlimited update?
Hardtop's are on back order (I'm assuming because of the leak problem) and could take a while to get one if you order. Rubi's are on back order 'cause EVERYONE wants one. If you want "soon" go with X or Sahara. For towing, definitely get Unlimited, 3500# towing capacity as opposed to 2 door. Sahara's a show Jeep, lots of shiny extras none of which make it more trail worthy. Rubi's got stronger front axle, and a higher 4L gear ratio, better for trailing, but you pay for that excellence. Nothing wrong with the X that can't be later tricked out to Rubi standards.

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
Thx for the feedback. Just got off the phone with the dealer who says they've fixed the issue with the leaks and transmissions and have started shipping again (of course he'd say that, right?).

Anyway, leadtimes are now 3-4 months if having one built.

Guess I'm going to "roll the dice" on the leak being fixed and put one on order - wish me luck!

Thx again.

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
My hard top leaks between the 2 front panels at the windshield. Not a lot but it drips right on the radio.

Other than that and the auxcilliary power plug does not work I love it.

Where the hell is spell check when you need it?

Re: Wrangler Unlimited update?
I'm in the market for the new 4 dr Unlimited but can't decide on which top to go with - hard or soft. It will be stored outside and getting it covered and completely uncovered quickly is a consideration. Any feedback?

Also, the dealer told me that there is a stop ship on them right now but he wasn't sure why. He thought maybe it had something to do with one of the tops leaking - or maybe the transmission? Any feedback?

Will be using mine for over sand and towing a boat so will probably go with the X unless someone out there can give me some additional data on why the Saraha or Rubicon might be a better fit.

Thx.

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
I LOVE my '06 Unlimited Rubicon!! I bought it in November '05 from Overseas Military Sales Corp. and finally picked it up in June '06. I actually got to drive it for 19 days before I had to put it on jack stands in storage (where it will stay until sometime between November '07 and June '08), while I finish my tour in Japan......US Navy.
That 's my only complaint..........that I can't drive it!

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
Just bought mine this last week. 06 Unlimited Rubi. Yellow/Black dual tops, air, cruise. Picking it up tonight Now I have to sell my 02 Sport.

This is my 2nd Jeep. I don't think I'll ever be jeepless again. It's a way of life.

By the end of the week end, it will be running on 35's, custom bumper, CB, 4.5" lift, 7" flares, and a few other doodads. I spent the last week stripping down my sport to transfer everything over to the new one. Within another week, I'll have another 1.5" body lift and Old Man Emu shocks.

I have big plans for this one. I'm offering offroad extreme tours and success coaching expeditions. We have amazing backcountry around here and I will be taking full advantage of this great natural ressource. I will even offer extreme winter wheeling and camping expeditions. 6 of us made it up a local mountain last winter. It was simply amazing. these Jeeps are just incredible offroad.

And please people don't call Jeeps cars.

Keep on Jeepin!

Eric

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
I bought my 2006 Rubicon Unlimited (first Jeep ever after lusting after Wranglers for a while) around the beginning of the year and what else can I say other than I love it and have had no problems with it yet. I now frequently take the backroads to work and seeking seasonally maintained roads has become a hobby. Planning on going to the Snoshoe Mountain Jamboree this week.

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
Jason, Can you fit the 37's with a 4 inch lift? how much did your 5.5 inch lift cost? How has your mpg been effected? Have you been forced to change axel gearing, if so how much did that cost? What does it ride like on the freeway, passing etc? I plan to get a 4 door unlimited next year. I want to add 35 inch tires. Not sure how much it will cost me to do it? Thnaks Jay

Re: Wrangler Unlimited?
Doing great with my Unlimited since I bought it brand new last September. Hey does anyone out there know if they've discontinued production of the original wrangler unlimiteds (04-06) and how many vehicles they made?

It seems that these vehicles might be rare someday. I believe even the Scrambler had a longer production run than two years.
