MyGig Has anyone purchased the MyGig system in a Wrangler yet?
Is it really as good as it seems? I've heard that it does not come with Bluetooth in the Wrangler, due to the folding windshield. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've read that it has DVD playback capability, is this for audio and video, and does the vehicle have to be in park to play a movie (kinda useless for keeping the kids occupied on trips)? Any insights are appreciated (B) Update: It's been 45 days "on-hold" because of the MyGig. I called the dealer and asked if he could inquire to the factory rep what the ETA on MyGig is. I'm almost ready to cancel the MyGig. I'm getting weak, I want this Jeep for Spring... Oh yeah It's Spring now. G e t t i n g W e a k e r . . . . 3-19-07 Well that's it I've cancelled my option for the MyGig. Dealer says he'll have the changes entered intot he system tomorrow. We'll see how fast I move from BG status to D.

Re: MyGig I have an Unlimited Rubicon on order. It is equipped with Mygig.
Yes, I think its going to be as good as it looks! Bluetooth will work with windshield up/down. There is no reason the windshield would effect Bluetooth. The DVD will play movies or audio. Yes, it has to be in park, until there is a crack found. You can hook up monitors in the back and hook to audio/video outputs. I have also been told there will be a way to use it as a back-up camera to see what is right behind you! I will post more in a couple weeks when mine is actually in the drive-way

Re: MyGig jrmajor
I have seen conflicting reports and even the local dealer doesn't know for sure what to expect because they haven't seen one from the factory yet. The supposed reason the bluetooth will be disabled on the Wranglers is because the microphone is mounted in the mirror, which would present a problem with the folding windshield. That and the amount of noise in the Wrangler would render it useless with the top down. Personally, I think it's a lame reason. 95% of the Wranglers will never see their windsheild folded down. I've stopped worrying about the DVD capabilites, because WalMart has some "El-Cheapo" headrest units that come with wireless headphones for $100 each. They're removable & that way when the theives steal them out of my Jeep, there'll be minimal damage. I gave up on the diesel, and ordered mine last night. I have a VON, but the order has yet to be "picked-up" by the factory. Hopefully in mid-March it'll arrive. Convertible season is just around the corner :)

Re: MyGig I hope it is everything they have built it to be. I have ordered my new 07 Rubi with the my gig in mid Jan of 07. I have been told that at this time Chrysler has put this on hold for all vehicles offered with no eta. I was called by my dealership just friday to pass this info along and ask if I want to take this option out, hence they could get the jeep into production but I have asked to hold off and see if they change there minds. I really want it because it just has to may cool features.
I asked them to keep the order and call me back as soon as they here a staus change. Has any one else heard this same information? I have been told it could be a supply issue or keeping up with demand. |

Re: MyGig Between the lack of Bluetooth and DVD play while driving, what's the point of dropping $1500 on a crippled MyGig???
1) The "database" for the mp3 jukebox mounted on the hard drive is only as good as the data in it. If I want to download my entire Angry Samoans (80's punk) libray into this thing, is it even going to know who they are??? I doubt it. FIX: iPOD or something like it that already knows the name of the stuff you're going to listen to. 30gig iPOD = $249.00 (there are cheaper alternatives) 2) GPS, it's only as good as the data in it. How difficult is it to get the maps updated? FIX: Any mobile GPS unit like Garmin for around $500 or that unit Jeep/Mopar offers that mounts on top of the dash (cost unknown) 3) I can kinda buy the windnoise argument as far as the Bluetooth deal is concerened. I had trouble on my WIRED earplug setup with my PPC6700 Sprint PDA phone; people on the other end of my phone calls complained about windnoise. FIX: Better headset or PULL OVER when on your cell phone! ![]() Ultimately, for a little more $$, you can get something like the Pioneer AVIC-N3 in-dash GPS head unit with DVD, mp3, XM AND you can actually hookup that rear backup camera, TV, rear monitor, etc. = $1799.00 You'd still need the iPOD but at least you can do exactly what you'd want. Just a thought. |

Re: MyGig I've been readingup a bit over a t JK-Forums.
Man, timez are tough for Jeep buyers. With 6 months into the new model you would think they would have worked out all the bugs on this "late availability" option. I've been patient and hopeful of many things in the new Wrangler, the MyGig wouldn't be the biggest disappointment (Where's the CRD for US?). Now I've read that a handful of people actually got the MyGig, but due to leaking Freedom Top weather-stripping the $1500 head unit has been shorting out? Come on already! So they've frozen Freedom Top and MyGig production until ? ? ? The DVD has multiple outputs (maybe)? That AVIC unit looks very capable, but I'm hoping for some ext. warranty coverage, and I like the fact that the MyGig is a PITA to reinstall in any vehicle other than the original. Apparently it links itself to the VIN and unique computer ID, and takes an act of Chrysler to get it reinstalled even at the dealership. Just another reason to go for that 10 year 120,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. From what I've read the lockers and even the headlights are signalized through the computer. The more complex the make it, the harder it is to fix.
