Header problems 2008 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited
First let me begin by saying hello to all my Jeep friends out there. This is my first time on your web site and my first post so forgive me if its out of place but I have a BURNING problem and I' m trying not to go insane. Here it goes in a nut shell. I have a 08 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited with the new 3.8 v6. Part of my initial upgrades was Banks new torq tube headers and exhaust. Within a month I had burned up 2 spark plug wires, in a little over 2 months it was 5 wires. Aparrently I'm not the only one because Banks did a recall and installed a heat shield on the drivers side header. There fix was awfull ! Very generic heat shield that completely blocked access to 2 spark plugs on the driver side. Thanks to great customer service at my local shop, they helped me upgrade to a ceramic coated JBA header and 2 new JBA wires for the #4 and #6 plugs which are the 2 which continue to burn up. Didnt make the 4 mile ride home when jeep began to sputter. Stopped and popped hood to find the #4 JBA wire in FLAMES !! Anyone else done an upgrade to headers on 07/08 jeep with 3.8 engine? Any problems? Any suggestions? P.S. My comment against Banks was not intended as a slam ( I still love Banks) but I was extremely shocked at there fix and I'm sure someone else out there has seen it. If your going to buy one all Im suggesting is to look at it before its installed and you make the call.
