I’m in the process of building a snorkel for my TJ I would like to use ABS pipe. I have a choice of using either 2” or 3” diameter pipe. The throttle body measures approximately 60mm, which is close to a 2.5” diameter bore. I would prefer to use the 2” ABS, as the 3” pipe is rather large and would stick out the side of the vehicle more then I’d like, don’t want it to become a tree or rock catcher on narrow trails.

My question is would the 2” ABS pipe be too restrictive for the air intake on a 4.0-ltr engine? Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
