ABS Override Switch Has anyone installed an ABS Override Switch on a Wrangler recently? Does it make braking in loose footing noticably better?

Re: ABS Override Switch To answer the question regarding braking: yes, disabling ABS does help greatly with braking on loose surfaces. I strongly recommend turning it back on once you're on pavement again, but you will notice a huge difference off-road with it turned off.
As for wiring a switch... It wouldn't be too difficult, but disabling it is pretty easy. - Turn the vehicle off. - In the PDU (fuse box under the hood), remove the 40A fuse usually labelled either 'ABS Pump' or 'ABS Motor' depending on model. - Enjoy :) The ABS light on the dash will be on while you're running with it disabled, but just think of it as a reminder to put the fuse back in when you're back on-road. Incidentally, you should ONLY put the fuse in with the vehicle switched off - and don't panic if it takes a couple of minutes for the ABS light to go out again after re-enabling it. |
