Wait for the diesel anyway. It is that kind of mentality that Jeep is depending to sell these hogs. Sell us the diesel Dr. Z.

I am on your side. They will need to add a better engine before I buy the new four door. Hopefully a hemi or a diesel. I am not concerned with gas milage. They just found more oil in the gulf.

The guys at AEV (American Expedition Vehicles) are already working on the Hemi package for the 07 Wrangler. I'm not sure how many of the Hemi Wranglers they have built for 05 and 06 but check them out in the meantime.

Re: New Wrangler 4 door Unlimited Hemi
Quinn buddy I feel your pain.
Jeep is only releasing the JKs with the pathetic gas-sucking 3.8 V6 in the US. Personally I'm hoping for the 3.0L CRD, but the MDS Hemi would make a good 2nd choice. Unfortunately, engine upgrades are viewed as marketing tools to refresh tapering sales figures. Regardless of how much demand or need there is for more efficient engines.
But that doesn't really answer your question.
It is very likely that the Wrangler will someday have the much ballyhoo'd Hemi MDS.
1.) DCx is in favor of sharing parts amongst models more than most manufacturers.
2.) The frame has been stiffened 50% for something, the 4 door is only 20" longer & 200lbs heavier than the 2- door.
3.) There must be a reason to increase rigidity namely Horsepower + Torque.
4.) I think that Jeep has looked at one aftermarket company and found that their idea of a Jeep has options people are willing to pay for - AEV. AEV first created the long and extra-long wheelbase Jeeps. With AEV pioneering the Hemi conversion, several other companies have their own conversion kits too.
5.) Overseas the Wrangler will be offered with a CRD (torque) but I would guess the MDS Hemi will be offered in the US (330HP).
6.) The H2 offers 325hp I don't think Jeep will tolerate being 2nd best to Hummer in any category except expensive bling.

Don't expect to see anything else offered in the JKs until after Q1 2009.

What? Just because I say it like it is, and you don't care for it, doesn't make me evil.

How realistic is a Hemi in the new unlimted? I want to buy one with a growing family I had to get rid of my TJ this solves the problem. I dont want to regret buying one with the six if the Hemi is only a year away.
