Problems with my 07 Wrangler Help me, please!!! I leased an 07 Wrangler 2 weeks ago. (It's an automatic.) Already 2 problems have surfaced that seriously concern me.
First off, the engine frequently makes a hissing/whistling noise when I step on the gas. As soon as I take my foot off the gas the noise goes away. The dealer tells me this is just noise from the engine's uptake of air. Can this be true? More recently and more alarmingly, I have had 2 incidents where the brakes did not engage properly. Instead of the norm, the vehicle bucked wildly and it felt like the brakes were grinding on the wrong surface. (sorry, I'm not a mechanic). In both cases I was on a highway exit ramp, so the vehicle was on a decline, and I was turning when I hit the brakes. Any ideas what the issues could be and how I can handle them with the dealer? |

Re: Problems with my 07 Wrangler I have had my 2007 for almost 2 months now and have had neither issue.
Are you stomping full trottle. If you are then the dealer might be correct. Did you put larger tires on the Jeep? Could they be rubbing? Another answer could be a bad wheel bearing or similar in the front end. In handling the dealer have you sent the questionaire back yet? Just a mention that you have not can get you a lot of mileage with them. Good luck

Re: Problems with my 07 Wrangler Jeep DCX just had a recall on the Wrangler 2007 dealing with the brakes and abs type areas. Maybe this will help with your problem? I want to know what sort of terms you got on your Lease of your 07 Wrangler? How much down did you put, and how much a month do you have to pay. Is it for 3 years? Thanks JDJ

Re: Problems with my 07 Wrangler I have a 39 month lease.
I put down $2500 and have a monthly payment of $250. The sticker price on the car if I had bought it would have been about $22,000. My impression is I got a decent deal. I consulted with several dealerships over the phone and played them against each other the best I could. Two things were working against me: I special ordered the vehicle because there were things I absolutely did and didn't want. Also, I acted in a little bit of a rush because my other car was giving out on me. |

Re: Problems with my 07 Wrangler I'm not sure whether you're asking if I'm stomping full throttle on the gas or the brakes, given that I've got issues with both. But in either case my answer is no; I'm driving the vehicle just the same as I've driven all my prior ones, including a 97 Wrangler.
As for the tires, they're the ones that came with the vehicle. I believe they're 17". It's certainly worth a check to make sure they are not the source of the braking problem. Good idea with the questionnaire. I have not yet received one, but when I do I will use it to my advantage. Thanks. |
