1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport
Hi,
I have a 99 cherokee sport, which has some "issues" I've seen others with the same issue, so I'm hoping some one out there knows where to find the problem.

My left rear blinker when engaged, activates my hazzards. I am totally unaware of this, it does not show up on my dash indicator, or in the front blinkers... Any ideas?

My break lights are out, but my parking lights still work... same bulbs... any clues?

My electric Mirrors no longer move, My passengers cannot always put down their own windows, but I can operate from the main switch/panel.

I have a wobble in my front end between 55 - 60 MPH slower or faster, it's gone. (I do need new tires, and I do have a wheel bearing needing or ball joint; can't remember; replaceing)

Any insight would be great!

I have a '98. This site has most of your answers: Jeep Forum --Cherokee

I might be able to help with a few, too:
1) The "wobble" is common. It's affectionately called the "death wobble". I've found that mine is a slight "shimmy" that comes & goes, but is usually related to tire balance and/or mud stuck on the inside of the rim throwing the tire balance off. 55-65mph seems to be the common harmonic... New tires & a good balancing job should cure it. If it doesn't, you might have a bearing problem or a worn axle U-joint (the latter is ~$150 to have it replaced at Monro Muffler).

2) The electric mirror & window problems are almost always related to the master switch panel on the driver's door panel (moisture gets in and/or the contacts get oxidized over time). You can try disconnecting it & checking/cleaning any corrosion on the connectors.

3) Brake lights vs. parking lights --check your fuses. Look in your Jeep owners manual & it will tell you which specific fuses to look for. Sounds stupid, because the bulbs are the same ones, but I believe the fuses are related to the specific circuit that supplies power to the bulbs & there are (at least) 2 circuits that can supply power to the bulbs... maybe 3 if U include the emergency function. If you have a towing wiring harness, the trailer lights pull juice through this same circuit, and that may have caused the fuse to blow. The rule-of-thumb is that you can safely go up one fuse size (i.e, a 10amp to a 15amp, or a 15 amp to a 20 amp...) to prevent it from happening again. Don't worry, if there's a REAL short, any size fuse will blow quickly...

4) Once the blown fuse(s) are replaced, check the dash lights again. If they don't show up when you have the E-lights blinking, give the E-light switch (on top of the steering wheel) a good firm "wiggle" back & forth when the E-lights are on. I had this problem & it worked for me...

Hope that helps. for other info, the Jeep Forum is a fantastic resource. You'll have to "register" your name & e-mail in order to do searches, but it's worth it!
