If you mounted your winch to the front of your jeep, can you show them to me? A pic and what you did would be great!

Re: SHow me your winch mounts

I dont have any good pics on this computer, and the Tb drive is packed for the move, but I built my own bumper and installed a common winch plate on it. Used 6 grade 8 bolts to hold it down.

here is a pic of the bumper without the winch..

and with the winch mounted..

I took about a year to plan my front bumper. I originally wanted it to incorporate my plow but scrapped that idea because of my lift. However, I have a surf rack and need to move the boat around. So I wanted a fully functional front bumper that would house my Warn 8274. I know it's the best...

Even cut out so I can get to the steering box without pulling the front bumper.

The bumper is mounted in 10 locations with grade 8 bolts and tied into the frame. It's not going anywhere. If it is the frame is the weakest point...

Mine has kind of evolved over 30 years or so.

I like it. What is that black thing above the cable cut out???

simplicity is the basis of all good engineering. :chug:

those ears up front, those would be great to put clevis rings in if they had holes in them.:poke::laugh:

that is a pre finished pic, I was testing the fit
I have 7/8th holes in them now and so I could get 3/4 inch shackles on

Just about everyone will have their own philosophy for winch mounting. Mine are:
1) make sure it is strong enough to support the winch to be used
2) keep it light
3) keep it low (both for center of G, less air obstruction, and better winch pull angle)
4) use a roller fairlead, even with synthetic line.

Keeping it mounted low and using a roller fairlead allows you to run the cable/line under the Jeep for a reverse pull and has gotten me out of several jams when the front end was on the ground and I couldn't get enough traction to back up.

This is the next to last one I did for the 3B-it has been remodeled for the 8274 since these were taken.
