Build Thread Project JPSK8
The mock up is pretty much done other than the parts that I took up to the house to work on & I'm starting to tear it back down for body work & paint. I'll finish engine assembly, drop the drivetrain in & finish plumbing everything while the body is away.

Last bit of mock up & tearing it back down. Holes for the passenger side windshield hinge were out of whack. Should have the manifolds back from ceramic coating next week so I can finish assembling the 360.

Final dash mock up with the color (Ford Nitrous Blue) before it goes out for the real paint job. Switching gears back to final engine assembly...manifolds should be back from the ceramic coater shortly.

Not much to see at the moment. The loose body parts are with my body & paint guy, should be ready for the tub around Thanksgiving. Sent off a few items to the powder coater & will get the coated manifolds back when I go out to pick up that stuff, hopefully before Thanksgiving. The SpeedHut gauges arrived, so I test fit all of them. Heading down to STX for the holiday, we'll see what the progress is when we get back.

Picked up the last few powder coated parts & the ceramic coated manifolds from the powder coater, so I'll be completing the engine assembly soon. Traded in the older Grand Cherokee that I was driving to knock a few bucks off of my wife's new 2019 Ocean Blue Metallic JLU Sahara that she ordered back at the end of September (she's already got a stack of aftermarket parts for me to install). Ordered up the new Rocky Road Outfitters rock sliders & BDS springs for the CJ7 so I can get started on it while the Scrambler is in a holding pattern for body work & paint. Also got some news that I'm not allowed to fully disclose that will be taking us back to St. Croix at the end of January...let's just say that it involves TV cameras and life in the Caribbean ;)

Caribbean Life the tv show ?

Trans linkage, sway bar, steering brace, pitman arm, tie rod, intake manifold (this is what the powder chrome looks like without the clear coat that dulls it) & ceramic coated exhaust manifolds.

Back from filming, stayed a few extra days to avoid the polar vortex. Ended up with a rental JLU the same color as my wife's & did a little mild trail run back to a secluded beach. They said 6-8 months to edit, then they'll schedule the show. Long but fun & interesting experience seeing all that goes into the show...somewhere around 40 hours of footage that will get cut down & scrambled to make a 20 minute show.

That's leaving a lot on the floor !

Dang that’s a lot of footage to cut out

They like to give the editors a lot of options, so there are instances where we talk about the same stuff in 2 or 3 different settings. There's also footage of the island & the properties without us and we had to do multiple repetitive takes of essentially the same thing for different camera angles...everything was a minimum of three for close, wide & follow shots.

Mostly been working on the house to get it ready to go on the market while the body & paint guy is doing his thing. Right now he's rebuilding the fenders & painting the dash & grill to get those back to me so that I can put together those sub-assemblies (gauges, lights, wires, etc). Stopped to check on the rear seat & it had been shoved to the side, so it's back out front & center and I should have it back soon too. Thinking about buying a rotisserie...

Body & Paint guy came by Saturday to test fit the front clip prior to finalizing the repairs & painting the grill (waiting on the weather to warm up a bit to paint the grill & dash). He noticed some rot starting to form in the double layered portion of the fenders, so I ordered replacement panels for him to weld on & he replaced one of the fender bolt captured nuts on the grill as well as the body mount captured nut on the grill (I used a Chevy truck captured nut). April should be an active month...

A little photo worthy progress this week. Picked up the rear seat from the upholsterer this week. It's a Bestop Trailmax II that came with the Jeep with the headrests deleted...I bought a new one for everyday use. I gave him the Laredo seat out of my '86 CJ7 as a guide. It was finally warm enough this weekend for some painting, so the grill & dash are done so that I can complete those sub-assemblies. In other news, we did a sneak preview showing for a buyer that our realtor had on deck ahead of listing our house and they bought it!! Now I really need to get moving on this build.
