hey guys, just wondering, on the model 20, the inner axle seal, does it need to be pressed in from the inside out?

They press in from the outside in.

Yep. Pry it out with a seal puller, being careful not to mar the axle tube. Then install the new one with a seal driver or large socket till seated. Spring side in, rubber side out.

Measure the dept the seal is inside the tube before you pull it out.
I seat with a piece of PVC pipe that is just a bit smaller OD than the seal has.

the one that was in there is too big to be pressed in from the outside in, and the new ones I got were the same size, does anyone have a part number for this seal? im unbelievably frustrated right now cause I just spent over 1000 bucks on rebuilding this diff and this stupid seal went..

theres a bump inside, in front of where that seal sat
thanks

Pictures would be good-if possible.

so this is the pass side rear inner seal, minus the bearing race which I pulled so I could get a better pic,

this is the drivers side, minus the rear inner seal, notice that there is a ridge where the race would sit, then behing it it dips down where the puddle of oil is, almost like the seal sits there, the seals I got earlier were just too big, they fit where the bearing race would go but that's it, so I took them back,

hope this helps

It does and THX.
Take the old seal with you to show the parts guy.

Turns out there's a retainer in there when u upgrade to 1 Peice chromolys, which the pervious owner had done, also why I didn't know about it, pulled it out with a slide hammer & it uses the stock 13839 cr seal, I asked my buddy who did the swap and he told me, soo all done :)

You can put 2 inner seals in if needed.
Was the second retainer where the rub-ring was?
