hey guys,

long story short I was at my stag a few weeks ago, I put a hole in my diff cover on my CJ5 and roasted my axleshaft bearings, my main question I have, can I reuse the bearing retainers on my axleshafts? or do I have to get new ones? ive looked everywhere, and my local parts stores don't have a clue what im talking about, even when I brought the old retainer in with me, ive got everything new pressed on already EXCEPT the bearing retainers,

ive even been told & shown that there isn't a bearing retainer on a model 20 rear axleshaft,

I have done the 1 piece chromoly conversion on it so I don't have the "hub" on the rear axle, I just have 2 chromo 1 piece shafts,

any info would be great cause im even wondering about it, because the inner seal and race sit into the axle housing, so im starting to wonder why I would need that bearing retainer as well,

and if anyone has a SKF or TIMKIN part number I would be forever greatfull!!

Best I remember is that the retainer must go on the axle before the bearing is pressed on. Are you talking about the metal plate with the seal built in and four bolt holes...or something different? :chug:
