Happy day after Easter, I hope this is the right forum. What is the widest tire I can put on a 15” x 9-1/2” wide rim? Currently have 31 x 10.5 x 15 BFG T/A’s … but they are old…..frown face emoji

I'd say wider than your jeep can clear while turning. I have a set of 15x7 with 33x12.5 R15 how wide are you looking to go

275's or just shy of 11" is the widest considered to be safe on a 9.5" rim. Some run wider, but not recommended for safety. Of course there are some other factors in terms of rim height and tire sidewall height as well.

Thank you, great chart! Another thing, besides looks & ego is what I can find on C/L. Thanks for the info, have a great day, Regards, Chipster

Thank you, besides looks, I’m considering what I find used on C/L, so that’s why. Great info, thank you. Regards. Chipster
I think most common will be the 12.5 range in width unless you get bigger than 15. Once you get to the 35"+ range I've seen 14"+ width but typically on 17"+ rim size unless you order new

35x12.5x15 Mastercraft "Courser" MT tires on Ultra "Nomad" 15x10 wheels. 4" suspension lift and trimmed fenders. No rubbing on fenders or leaves even at full lock. No wheel spacers, but these rims do have 3.77" of backspacing. And BTW - trailer has the same matching tires, trimmed fenders, and pocket flares.

I run 2 different wheels and tires. Goodyear Wrangler authority 31x10.5 R15 for every day use. And 33x12.5 r 15 BFG km2 for off roading. Both are on CJ 7 wagon wheels570578fa18d9ee03bc932a09aa35eece.jpge2ff7ec693a597f2a28b1d1dd24354c9.jpgfee847702bfa596506af1f12f6720b65.jpg

Not to hijack someone else's post but you just answered the million dollar question for me. Running 32x11.50r15 now need new ones wanting to get Thornburg 33x12.50r15 and just wanted to clean up and use the old wagons.

The chart shown earlier says “maximum tire width”. It’s actually referring to tire tread width, not overall tire width. 33/12.50R15 tires have a tread width of approximately 10 inches or 250 millimeters. Be careful.

Running Swampers 35x12.5 x 15 TSL LTB. 10" rims They are less than an inch taller then the regular 33" TSLs. Slightly narrower.

I use factory wagon wheels with center caps for the 31s and an after market set for the 33s

Rear clear no problem front rub at full lock but it still turns pretty tight and if I'd have went with a tire with no side lugs probably wouldn't have rubbed at all.
