Build Thread First cj7 build 1985
If you move it be sure to seal up the hole so you don't get water in your frame.

Today on my trip to advanced auto parts, I ran in to some fellow jeepers that recognized the jeep from the forum. They were very nice, gave me some advise where I could find quality jeep parts, and assured me that they are very intrested in the build. This is good to hear cause some times I'm not sure if anyone is our there... Check back frequently I hope to have some work completed very soon..

I'm out here

After I got home from a drive yesterday, on a whim I decided to wash the jeep down but took it one step further. I had some 3M hand glaze.... I rubbed up the hood and fenders and was really shocked how it came out....

I also took the cushion off the roll bar... Think it just looks better that way.

Happy easter and wow thay thing really polished up nice. Keep up the good work. I am enjoying the read and your jeep is going to become a benchmark for restoration.

Looks great. My best friend had an 86 Renegade in that color/sticker combo when we were growing up. His had a black interior though.

I really got tired humming to myself so I decided to install an updated stereo head unit....

This is where we started...

Test fit.

20140420_150956_zpsgv2csawo.jpg

Had a hell of a time mounting the cage in there but I was able to use a through bolt in the center to secure it in place...

20140420_160146_zpsgzxmuuoz.jpg

I could go into the wiring but you understand what we got..

Black to gtound

20140421_181604_zpsuwywiypq.jpg

Well it works so I guess I did something right... Lol... It does so much :dung: I had a hard time just listing to the radio, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

I plan on upgrading the speakers and getting a better antenna in the near future..

I like the look of black better, BUT that garnet interior makes it stand out. Garnet stuff is rare, so if you decide to switch to black, SELL your garnet stuff and buy black (as opposed to trying to dye your garnet stuff)

I like the red, same as mine it's kind of a sign of the times.

I put up too many pictures... Should be back up in a week or so.... Real shame too had some things to show.

Well everyone I'm back. Those damn clowns at photo bucket trying to make a buck. Anyway I got a few things completed....

The first was the taillights...

20140423_184133_zpswq84neef.jpg

This is what we started with..

20140423_184256_zps30dyo8o8.jpg

Lense off....

20140423_184953_zps5jvytru3.jpg

Remove the three screws and the whole thing comes off...

20140424_170713_zpsm5q0xrd6.jpg

I taped and measured the area to be cut out....

20140424_171557_zps9xwwuooi.jpg

20140424_175725_zpseizncnet.jpg

Cut out.... Wasn't too difficult.

20140424_181404_zpslzu29fia.jpg

20140424_181408_zpsz5ustmtv.jpg

Light in place...

20140424_183414_zpscz7to8mf.jpg

Grounded light right to body...

20140425_190419_zps8gxqoova.jpg

All done...

20140425_195933_zpsmkqllxie.jpg

20140426_143002_zpsd7ih7jho.jpg

Also moved plate while I was at it...

One thing that bothered me and detracted from the look was the red mounts.... I saw that if you spray it with vinyl paint it will hold up....

20140502_180817_zpsddkm44lc.jpg

Where we started.

20140502_181022_zps9madkkkr.jpg

20140502_181441_zpsidr7ij1o.jpg

Painted...

Lastly when I had the Bikini top of it windshield lip made a horrible whistle over 30mph in and attempt to quiet it down I found a peice of weather stripping that works excellent... Nice cheap solution check it out...

20140502_185518_zpsclf1oub5.jpg

20140502_185512_zpsoj7wshb2.jpg

I almost forgot.... I started to install a quality antenna... It's firestik brand.

20140502_202544_zpsf1vyt9pc.jpg

20140502_204404_zpsoqq9avg9.jpg

Secondary mount location just to prevent it from slaping around....

20140502_204409_zpsvlcrjxjt.jpg

Stay tuned more to come.

As I mentioned the antenna.... I ran the wire real neat, I used these little mounts which cable locks slide into and hold the wire in place. What is nice about it, if I need to add more wires I can just add new zip ties. Here take a look.

20140510_200215_zpshnhuefeq.jpg

Now here is what you need to pay attention too... There needs to be a plastic washer between the antenna and the mount.. The antenna wire is coaxial... The flashing on the outside is the ground and the center is the antenna receiver point... Analyze the picture.... At first I had it grounded inappropriately, since I fixed it, the reception is incredible. Every frequency has sound and 95% are crystal clear... Picking up a ton of HD stations etc..... I highly recommend this!!!

Top job mate, great stuff from beginning to present. I've just spent the arvo reading your build, a great resource for those of us preparing to start a build and a real inspiration too. Looking forward to your further progress, well done. Cheers from Oz.

Thank you very much for the kind words.... I hope people find the thread useful. I'm no expert by any stretch but if there are aspects you need me to elaborate on just ask.....

Nothing super exciting here just installed the male end of the seat belts, that I just picked up. I attached one end to the bolt on the roll bar....
