Am I the only one who finds the bestop for a CJ7 an absolute bear to install...any workable tips would be helpful...cheers

Yes!!! Put everything together before you raise the bar that pushes up on the roof.

Let the top heat up in warm Sunlight.
Helps in the stretching you may need.

Yes, the sunlight helps a ton! I didn't have that sunlight when I put mine on.

Lol mine was a pain in the butt, after a few months in the sun it stretches out a bit and is easier but the first install I was ready to send it back and wait on a hard top to hit Craigslist

That’s funny....thanks for the tips...I do have the hard top..prob look better too..but just thought having bought the parts I should at least try to put it on....we live and we learn...

Took me six hours to get mine on, and that's including time to take off all the old snap bits.

I say, if you got the hard top, use it.

Hardtop in winter soft top in summer if I had both that’s how I would do it

That’s kinda what I thought..it’s all fitted as it should except for the tensioner bar...that’s just on the first hole...I’ll let it stretch a while then try to slide it up to the second hole...gonna take some brute force...progress I guess.....

Only got mine to the first hole but have not tried to ho higher since putting it on. Again, that was without sun and stretching first.

Do any of you know how/where the snap loop near the upper rear of doors is supposed to attach?
It doesn't seem to reach back to the upright bar and is not even close to tight if I wrap it around the bar coming back to the upright and horizontal door bars.

My Jeep is at the shop right now so I can't look on mine, but I don't remember a snap loop in that location.

Picture?

I'll check mine when I get home from work. It'll be around 7 by then. A pic would definitely be helpful

I had more cursing wrestling with that thing than any other part on my chassis up build...go figure...did resort to the heat gun to soften the rear corners....

Here’s a couple pics of the strap.
I know the bar is a homemade replacement from some emt conduit.

That looks like the old style that I took off my CJ. The new style doesn't have those rods. Sorry, I can't help.
