It's time for a build thread Im thinking. Been working on my new to me 86 Cj7 my plan was to install a " rebuilt " 258 I picked up in December long story short I pulled the head off to install a 4.0 head and found that the motor was Worn out. Ok on to what I'm planing with this jeep. ( I will be driving to work and back after motor and tans is installed ) I'll start with the motor, building and rebuilding, installing 4.0 head, running Howells fuel injection, next thing is fix the rust and stress cracks in body. Clean frame repaint, transmission I will install the t5 latter I will be installing a t18 with my Dana 300 that will be twin sticked. Axles have 3.31 gearing, front is open diff, rear is a Dana 44, Ive been trying to decide between eton elockers or ARB lockers. When I buy lockers I will be regearing to 4.10 gears.

Alright! Another build along the way while driving it project. Some of the guys on here with full restorations are doing such nice work it makes me feel guilty for doing things half way to keep it ready for the road... at least I'm not alone

Nice looking jeep you've got to start with!

Why not drive it maybe a year or two down the line I will pull it apart and make sure everything is good. Thanks for the compliment about my jeep.

Nice lights. Was looking on eBay just now and they seem pretty cheap...which is a worry(get what you pay for). With your set, did you need a new relay to slow the blinking?

Also, what do you have planned for reverse lights?

I did have to replace the relay. It dosnt bother me how cheap they are because i have ran the same light in my CJ5 for 2 years and havnt had any problems with them. As for the back up lights i will be installing a set of flood lights on the bumper after i get the tire carrier fabbed up.
