Rusted body and mount repair suggestions

5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,

Brand new to the board. I have a 1977 CJ5. Sat in a field in KY for a while. Bringing it back to life a little at a time. Iíve got a healthy amount of rust on the under body of tub and some on frame. Looking for suggestions for repair.

These are mainly from a safety perspective. This is not going to be show quality. Haha.

Will attach pictures

Welcome to the family!

While I haven't done anything about it yet, I've got some rust rot on the rocker, floor, and corner panels. That's what I get for leaving my CJ5 parked outside for a year and a half.

Originally I was exploring getting the rust cut out, and doing a patch job, but I've had a couple people tell me with all the time and costs, you might as well buy a whole new steel tub.

I am in the same scenario and Iím going to try and replace floor pans and a few patches myself. One reason is to keep it original and the second and major reason is $$$$!!!!

Id like to offer positive suggestions, however, i'm new to body repair. As my experience grows perhaps I can better help.
