I was planning to purchase a fiberglass body kit when I realized I have a perfectly good steel hood and fenders. Was wondering if anyone had experience or thoughts on just doing the fiberglass tub and keeping the steel hood and fenders. This would save me almost $1000.

Just donít know if there are downstream problems Iím not recognizing.

Well, Iíd say you will Be fines Other than potential fit issues. If the tub is physically the same as the steel tub, you should be good to go. I did just the opposite - Iím running a steel tub with fiberglass hood and fenders. I had issues with the fenders not fitting correctly and had to rework the flange that interfaces with the tub. Unfortunately you probly wonít know till you actually fit em up and see what you have.

I imagine it would be easier to work the flanges in steel fenders but I understand what youíre saying. Thanks for the perspective.

I have the original front end on a Kentrol glass body and it fit fine. I have to work the mount to the body a little bit but it wasn't hard at all.

Ultra,
A guy on the south shore of MA gets a fair amount of YJs from Arizona. His tubs are usually 800-1200 depending on condition. I got basically a zero rust 93 for $1000. Save me a lot on body work. I can pm you his info.
