Default Fuel pickup filter in tank

Iím replacing the sender in my 20 gallon factory poly tank. The old sender was basically disintegrated. The new sender comes with what looks like a filter. I assume it attaches to the pickup, but I donít know if it just pushes on or what. Anyone have any feedback or any pic?
