I would like to install some aftermarket gauges. Where is the best place to install an oil pressure sensor and water temperature sensor? This would be for an '83 258... Mucho Gracias.

Couldn’t you just use the Factory Oil and Temp sending units or those existing mounting locations to mount New sensors/sending units?

Of course, this would somewhat depend on what “New” replacement gauges you plan to use. If you know which brand/model replacement gauges you plan to use, you should be able to go online and download installation instructions and specifications for the New gauges.

The New gauges may require different or supplied sensors/sending units.

Perhaps the existing factory sensors/sending units still work and would drive the New gauges?

Autometer classic gauges will fit in the stock holes. Mechanical oil gauge (only way to go IMHO) Either electric or mechanical water temp.

Mechanical on both was my choice.
Auto meter 2432 for water temp, you'll need to drill a hole large enough for the bulb & nut to fit through firewall ran my on DS firewall and installed in plug under the intake/exhaust manifold, just slit the provided grommet and use care routing the line to not kink it. Get an under dash bracket to mount it.

Oil pressure 2421 fits the stock hole with supplied nylon tubing kit and grommet run it through the PS firewall near the left of valve cover. Unthread the stock sender has the purple wire attached and thread in the 1/8" NPT adapter. Copper line kits are 12-15 extra if you want the extra insurance
