Help guys/girls,
I知 stuck. I知 taking apart my 86 to get repainted and I am working to remove the wiper linkage.

Wiper motor and driver side linkage is pretty self explanatory. I can figure out how to disconnect the passenger side. Will someone please help a brotha out!

Also, a bunch of the torx bolt on the windshield bracket stripped out. Any tips? I知 hoping to repair and reuse the original frame so I am trying to minimize damage. I致e never tackled anything like this before so I知 treading softly.

Thank you

The passenger linkage comes out together, just disconnect from the driver linkage and twist and pull it out.

As for the torx, when I was painting my doors I used a torch to heat things up then used an impact driver. To be honest though, I did end up breaking off a couple heads and had to drill and ez-out those.

Dr doc nailed this one...you値l figure out the wiper arms..and drill and ezout is all you can do with the captives in the windscreen frame...gently does it though...the captive nut frame can be dislodged..then your in trouble....the holes in the body on mine are all nuts and bolts...

This is what I have found to work the best on torx bolts on these CJs

The impact driver that mtnwhlr showed works great. I have 2 of them, and they have saved me many times.

If the bolt is hopelessly rounded off, you can put a nut over the bolt and weld the center of the nut to the bolt. Then you can use a socket to remove the torx bolt. Before doing this, I would give it a few days soaking with deep creep penetrating oil. Then when you weld the nut on, the added heat will make the bolt easier to remove.

Reinforce the frame where the wiper studs pass through while you have it apart...

Thanks for all the advice and I will definitely incorporate the reinforcement procedure into reassembly.

In all likelihood I will be using ez outs because the torx heads are pretty stripped already.

I have an impact driver but it wasn稚 helpful with my roll bar removal so I am not confident here either. We shall see.
