Trying to figure this wiring out with limited knowledge and test light.

I have a 73 CJ5 that is having headlight issues.

1st, My switch is new and the pull knob is a few years old.

I have power from the fuse box to the supply post of the headlight switch. I have the headlights, dash lights, and parking lights all wired to the correct posts. However, when I use the pull knob to turn on the lights nothing is working. The knob will actually pull out of the new switch. Also the dash lights will not come on when I turn the knob to dim or brighten.

I also have a constant "hot" post that is the dome light post. When I touch one of the headlight, dash light, or parking light wires to that post they work. What am I missing/ what is going on? any help is greatly appreciated.

I pulled the headlight dimmer switch and wired all wires into a 4 post relay. Works great.
