I have an 83 cj7 with a 304. I noticed today that at ideal with wants to run a tick warm, maybe 220. Driving, even just idling through the woods it stays around 195. I was glancing over it today and noticed it doesnít have a fan shroud.

Could this cause increased temp when idling? I suppose somebody swapped this motor in bc the 304 wasnít an option for 83, correct?

A fan shroud is good to have and will aid in cooling your engine

Shroud. Timing. AFR. Thermostat. Cooling system health. Cool it down a bit and youíll feel better.

What should timing be on a stock 304?

Also, where can I find a wiring diagram? Most of the ones online I canít seem to access or are blurry. I need to do a little dash work.
