I bought all of the parts to rebuild my calipers. Including new boots and slider pins. One thing I haven't seen, is the Teflon sleeves that were on mine originally. Do I still need to use them?

I would say yes, otherwise the pins would be too small for the holes in which they live

I was thinking the same thing. I had a little trouble finding them and just thought maybe they were re engineered to not need them. I did manage to find and order them..

Thanks for the reply.

i wasn't aware that it had the rubber boots until I started looking for replacement parts. After, i realized that the tar-like black goop all over the pins was actually the old decomposed boots. 8(
