Last time I asked for help ( https://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f15/j...istance-30472/ )the site received a whole load of 20 bucks for donations. WOW 20 bucks...

I'm confusused, do you like or hate this place? I worked hard for years to make a JEEP CJ site but receive no appreciation.

So , this is the last time I forked over the server bill. I just payed 865.00 for the next six months. After six months if the contributions do no equal or exceed 865 it (the site) will be turned off. No bullpoopie here, all info will be gone.

I'm tired of taking care of all that want a free ride but those who spend
thousands on beer or an a Jeep but not who helps them.

I need help to keep this site going.

Ideas?

Yearly subscription fee? Dare I say it may be time to open it up to advertising? If it's going to go down I wanna go down swinging. Sad to say but alot of people won't understand until it's gone. The sad state of our world today. Are there other Jeep websites? Yup. Like this one? Definitely not. There are some site glitches that would need to be remedied but the thought of such an easily searchable vault of information just gone hurts me deep.

With the number of members registered on the site, 20 bucks apiece for a yearly membership should cover everything and then some. Sure - even 20 bucks a year would drive some away, but if that's the case, good riddance. You need to cause a pop up to hit for every post stating that as of 1 January 2020, a membership will run 20 bucks a year, giving full access to the site. No membership, no posting, no search function, and maybe only the first page of a multi page thread. And no functionality on Tapatalk. 20 bucks is almost free - but I can't believe you wouldn't have enough of the regulars buying in to cover everything easily. And if you end up with a surplus, count it as payback for all your support over the last decade. Toss out a free shirt, hat, sticker, mug, etc. to random members if ya want to .... (you wouldn't be sellin em ).

No more free rides....... 100 annual memberships at 20 bucks a pop would be 2 grand a year. No way we don't have 100 folks that would pay 20 bucks a year.

I'd bet this particular forum has limited readership...... stick this thread in every forum we have. (I still like the pop up idea...)

Piggy backing off Shum8 post I prefer the annual fee over advertising. Maybe a prompt that says an annual fee of $25 due by Dec. 31st or your ability to post will be terminated. At least we'd know where we're at by the end of the year.

I mean really $25 a year? How much more do we put in our Cjs anyway? It's really not much to ask and is overdue when you look at the costs mentioned in the first post.

I would add non members could see the thread titles, but not actually see the content of the threads. Join up and be a member with unlimited access, or pay a $2 day pass for research.

Preferably we keep adding new members thru low membership rates, but if they donít want to join up, then why give them free run of the site. Maybe signing up gets you a 2 week membership, then to continue, 25 bucks a year.

Add a couple levels of membership -
25 - basic
30 - maybe lager avitar, additional dig line space
50 - additional photo storage

If the plug is gonna get pulled, Iíd rather not pull it till the paid membership option has been employed. No reason CJ has to keep carrying all of us.

An option to consider that would pretty much cover both possibilities, (because ads suck and nobody likes them) is to let the ads in, with a paid membership ad free.

I'm just a part timer here, but this site has been a huge help in my attempt to turn this bucket of bolts I received into a Jeep. Probably already saved me several times more than the donation I sent. I hate to see any forum go down. I've seen so many valuable depositories of knowledge wither and die in the last few years... Facebook has taken all the traffic, but has no knowledge base.

I am a supporter of this site and a few other forums. The small amount I pay every year is well worth it even though I don't work on the Jeep that much any more (but I probably should LOL). I think I donated this year or last year but it would be nice to get a reminder every 12 mos. I'll pony up.
