What a pleasant surprise…IMG_3139.jpeg

The place that I’m worried about is behind the brace by your feet. I know there is stuff going on behind there. I figure I made it 40 years, I might just get a big sticker for that area when it comes through on the outside. At this point I’m just going to drive it like I stole it. :biggun:

Depends on where you live. Around me that area rusted out and through and all around 20 years ago on most all Jeeps

Lol, my uncle used to say “at 60 mph down the freeway, no one will know.”

My tub has rust holes in that area by your feet, and several other places. Diamond plate is a cure for it, so I think.

Mine was to far gone to be saved same with my wife's. I did a YJ tub swap and am planning on the same for her Jeep

What can be used to effectively neutralize further rot, gentlemen…

I have used Por 15 with pretty good luck.

I use Corroseal, works great even on old axles, cast iron years of rust, only have to knock of flaky material and apply.I love this stuff. Got it on Amazon

Depressing, but oh well.IMG_3143.jpeg

Did you treat the inside ?

I did not, Belizean. I think it’s past the point of survival. I did, however, brush to bare clean metal and immediately coated with rattle can paint. I do thank you all for your suggestions.

No one knows what’s behind my windshield hinged mounts but you.

I get it, I'm a Jeep owner and ad-block detectors kinda stink but ads are needed on this site. This is a CJ site, all the ads are set for autos (some times others get through.) I cannot make them just for Jeeps but I try.

Please allow ads as they help keep this site running by offsetting the costs of software and server fees.
