Diff Narrow Track 44 in Place of Narrow Track 20? Perches work?

I was going to get 2 piece shafts for my 20 but found a narrow track CJ 44 for way less. Not looking to debate what is a better axle - just wondering if the 44 perches will work under my 78 or if I need to cut and reweld new perches?

Yes, you have to cut and weld.

Yes you’ll have to add new perches. I put a Dana 44 under a 78 CJ5.
wasn’t a big deal.n it’s a much better axel.
