MIG flux core welding wire

MIG flux core welding wire
Sticking metal together is an addiction. Can't wait until the next crack comes my way to try fixing. The bubbles don't seem to make the weld weaker, well I suppose you wouldn't want bubbles in a high stress area, but sheet metal is rarely in a high stress area.

Was unable to easily get Lincoln Flux Wire so I picked up some wire at my Auto parts store. This stuff is relatively wonderful as compared to the Harbor Freight junk I was using. Happy doesn't cover how I feel right now.

Flux core isn't as good and doesn't produce as good of a weld.

I will argue that statement. For 4 years I built bucket trucks of all sizes. On trucks over one ton the tower for the bucket was welded to the sub frame. 3/4" hydro formed steel and we did three passes with gas shielded flux core.
The welds looked like molten metal was poured in place.
Vertical ups were pure art.
It does have its place though, as mentioned it works well outdoors and I used it a good bit for heavy equipment repairs in the field.
Run correctly it has very good penetration and will puddle well.
Use quality wire such as ESAB, Lincoln and such.

Just don't use it for bodywork, the flux will react to any moisture and turn acidic.
