An attempt at a more car-like Jeep was based on the CJ5 chassis. Called the Jeep XJ001, it was designed in 1969 by Kaiser Jeep as a concept vehicle just a year before being taken over by American Motors. The XJ001 featured a fiberglass body, an open back, and door-less sides. AMC inherited this concept in 1970 without having a plan for it. As fate would have it, the Jeep XJ001 was destroyed when the truck carrying it flipped over and burned.

AdBlock Detected

I get it, I'm a Jeep owner and ad-block detectors kinda stink but ads are needed on this site. This is a CJ site, all the ads are set for autos (some times others get through.) I cannot make them just for Jeeps but I try.

Please allow ads as they help keep this site running by offsetting the costs of software and server fees.
