Okay, as promised, today we present more images of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On the left is a view of the "Laredo" version of the 99GC and on the right is an interior view.   A reader emailed us asking the following question:
1) Do you know whether there will be a 5.9 Limited version in the 99 or will the 4.7 be the only V8?
Well, according to official Chrysler information:
The all-new 4.7-liter V-8 PowerTech engine offers more power (235 bhp/175 kW), increased fuel efficiency (20 mpg combined) and 30 percent lower emissions than the 5.2-liter engine it replaces. A new 3.1-liter, five-cylinder turbo diesel engine (for markets outside of North America) provides more power and torque (140 bhp/104 kW; 275 lb.-ft./373 Nm) than the previous 2.5-liter turbo diesel. The proven 4.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine is substantially refined for more power (195 bhp/145 kW), up to 30 percent lower emissions and quieter, smoother operation.
One of our sources has recently let us know that the assembly plant where the 99GC will be produced is retooled and is undergoing production tests. According to our source, the first of the 99GC's will roll off the assembly line on July 13.
