Diesel Liberty Sales Strong

The Detroit Free Press has an article about the success of DaimlerChrysler's newest diesel vehicles in the United States. Here's a snippet:
Pickup truck and Jeep buyers are choosing diesel engines at a far greater rate than expected, Chrysler Group's new chief of product development said Thursday, and the automaker plans to offer them in more models.

"We anticipated we'd sell about 5,000 Jeep Liberty models with a diesel this year, but we've already sold 6,000 and it looks like we'll hit 8,000 by the end of the year," Frank Klegon told me in an interview, referring to this year's introduction of diesels into Jeep SUVs in the U.S. market.
